History: Born and raised into a military family. His mother was an Army nurse and his father was a member of the 101st Air Born, they met in a Tokyo Hospital during Vietnam. Every male member of his family spanning five generations served at least a single stint in the military (not always the US military as witnessed by his Nazi sympathizing grand-uncle.) So, of course, he was raised to serve in the armed forces starting with an Army blanket used to carry him home after his birth. The Boy Scouts, Junior Sailors then ROTC became the only places he met and made friends as a child, he grew to resent it all after a while. Still, a good boy, he joined the US Army as soon as he graduated from college.
He didn't go to a Military College, he wanted a break and wanted to use the time to live his own life for once. He majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in History. In OCS he excelled and got the placement he had hoped for, Surveillance and Satellite Image Analyst. He was nowhere near the fighting, but his decisions set the fate for thousands of men. He enjoyed his work, though mostly tedious. The strain of sending men he would never meet into areas that hew knew would be more dangerous than their CO's would admit began eating away at him.
After his 3rd year in and his promotion to Captain, he was sent home with a dishonorable discharge. He analyzed a small area of a Middle Eastern city and deemed it unsafe for any military insertion without major air or artillery strikes. The intelligence of the area, the images of a heavily concentrated enemy force and the abundance of two/four story buildings meant infantry and lightly armored APCs would be met with carnage. He would later find out an op was sent in with seven men never to return, his advice of an air strike or artillery bombardment unheeded. Their families were told they died in a helicopter crash caused by a faulty rotor. When he learned of this, he slugged the Colonel who ordered the men in, then slugged him a few more times.
He spent a year with a job, living with his
parents. Eventually the stress became too much for him and he yearned for the life he ahd been bred to have. As soon as the job was offered he signed the
contract.
